Screamjam 2022+1 submission
POST MORTEM: My Experience Submitting the Game
This week didn't go quite as I had planned. I had set out to work on my game for several hours each day, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I only managed to get 9-10 hours of work done in total. Unfortunately, this meant that I was unable to finish the main goal of the game before the deadline. Additionally, I encountered some issues with the build process that I was unable to resolve before time ran out.
If I were to do it all over again, there are several things that I would do differently. For one, I would create a better alien model, fix any lingering bugs related to collision and movement, and make sure to complete the main game loop before submitting. These improvements would have made the game much more polished and enjoyable for players.
However, after spending an additional 1.5 hours on the game, I was able to finish it. However, in the interest of fairness, I have decided not to update the game until after the voting period. The new version of the game includes more detailed tutorials on how to play, an AI that is more intense and actively hunts you, and all the goals you need to complete in order to finish the game. The average playtime is approximately 5 minutes, and if you're interested in experiencing the full game, you can check it out on my GitHub page at https://github.com/tommylogon/DeepSpaceDread/releases/tag/Publish.
